Hi there

10 year old double light switch needs replacing.
One switch is for hall light, and other for downstairs toilet.
I have had a look at the cabling inside - and it's a complete maze.
Inside are 6 connectors and the wiring (looking from the back) -
from left to right on top row
Red Blue/Black Red/Red
bottom row:
Empty Black (Red sleeve) Yellow(Red sleeve).

I have a new double which has got the new Com L1 and L2 X2 - which wires go where?
If this needs an electrician then I will take your advice.
Thanks.

Look at the labels on the old switch. You should see they are divided into two opposing triangles, with Com, L1 and L2. Com is at the top (may also be labelled ~ or C or L1). L1 and L2 are at the bottom (may also be labelled 1 and 2, or L2 and L3). Confusing yes, but the triangle principle is always the same. The only brand (AFAIK) not to use the triangle config is MK.

Simply copy the wiring into the new switch. The layout might be different, but its the same principle. The switch will only work how it is wired now. There is no other way.
