Well thought changing a washer on a dripping tap would be an easy job as I have done several in the past.

Problem was the center hole on the 1/2" tap washer was to large for the peg it had to push over. (bought from Wilko)
Nipped to B&Q and their 1/2" washers had the same large size hole in the centre.

Got me thinking that as my taps were very old maybe these were modern washers that screwed on.

Decided if I couldn't get any of the old washers with a small hole in the centre I may as well change the tap tops. Problem 2: The metric thread on the new tops wouldn't screw into the old imperial thread in the old taps.

Changing the taps completely on the sink unit would be a last resort as the pipes are soldered and acess is tight.

Anyone know where I can get any old tap washers with the small center hole?. Don't even know what I'm searching for. 'Tried Imperial Tap Washers' with no joy.

Thanks

Cut one out from an old leather belt, tap washers were made from leather long before fibre and rubber were used and will last a lot longer.
