Hi,

The hot water tap on our bath/shower mixer has started leaking this evening. Not sure of the brand of the tap but the washer has an outside diameter of 16mm, with a 5mm diameter centre hole.

I thought it was just a case of getting a replacement from the nearest DIY place. It looked like the 3/8" washers were the right width/thickness but the centre holes were too small.

Is it just a case of going to a specialist plumbing shop or could it be that I need an unusual size washer and may need to find out who made the tap (the bath and sanitary ware is Twyford so it may be one of their mixers).

I didn't think getting a correct sized washer was going to be this difficult!!

Many thanks for any advice that can be offered (apologies if this is a bit of a trivial question).

If the centre hole is smaller then why not drill it out to 5mm to make it fit :?:
Or is this a wind up? Never know these days.

A bath tap washer that is 16mm diameter? That’s got to be a wind up.
1/2" domed and semi-domed, Delta, Vacca, Pegler tap washers for sink/basin taps are all around 16mm diameter.

This is the replacement I bought which has the same outside diameter, although has a much smaller centre hole diameter.

Will try and fit it with a bit of grease, I think
