Looking at replacing an old Key Controlled alarm for something a bit more modern.

The central processing unit is currently situated in the main hallway and requires a key turn to set/cancel. This feeds 3 PIR downstairs (dining room, living room, kitchen), two door contacts (front and rear) and a single PIR upstairs. There is one external bell box to the front of the property.

I know for a fact the occupiers will not want to run new/more cables and I also presume, they will want the big ugly central unit out of the way...

Of course, if they kept the main unit in the same place, they could probably use the existing wires and just upgrade the PIRs & contacts etc... but as said, it's likely they'd want to move the unit and just have the keypad downstairs.

What options and alarms would you recommend?

fit a veritas compact if you dont want to re-run the wires, easy to program and quite slim, problem is that its sometimes quicker to re-wire than to move an alarm panel by the time you have jointed out the wires and moved the panel.
