Old metal conduit

there are houses that were wired using a cheap, unthreaded, thin conduit in rolled, black-japanned steel, with an unwelded seam, half-inch or 3/4" I've seen in older houses. This isn't threaded, it relied on a slip-joint and clamping screw. this is a particular problem to re-use, being so thin, the ends have a sharp edge, and, not being threaded, I don't know what you can do about the ends. They didn't have bushes but relied on being clamped into the female sockets on boxes.

Maybe I'm harping on about it, but this seems to me to be fairly tricky and I haven't seen a solution to it.

I gather the OP will be re-using sections of his old conduit, so IF he has this thin stuff ( ukants please advise) I don't know that it will be satisfactory.

I don't know what you can do about the ends.

I've not seen any slip conduit for a good few years but IIRC there used to be a rubber coupler/bush type thinge-ma-jig on the ends. I've not got a clue if you can still get them? You could also get them for 20mm conduit but again, I'm not sure if you still can.
