Metal conduits in consumer unit

One of the easiest ways to finish that is to fit a metal plate to the rear of the existing cover to fill the big holes.
I have done exactly this in the identical fuse box.

With it being a small number of conduit, maybe it will line up with modern CU? (At the bottom 3 anyway?)

I'm wondering if the most sensible way to go would be to shorten the bottom three conduits and take them into the new CU directly. Then only the two circuits coming from above would need to be extended.

What does worry me a bit though is that the conduit may be imperial, if it is then i'm not sure how common tools/fittings for imperial conduit are nowadays.
