Just got the keys to the new house and we have noticed that they have removed the tree from the garden which is great but there still the root in the ground can this be totally removed?

Any ideas or tips on how to... do we have to call someone in to do it?

The reason for removal is because we have a little one and he loves running around in the garden (as you do) and the root is always in the way

If you want to remove it straight away, hire a stump grinder and grind it down to below ground level.

You could also drill holes in it and use a root out preparation to kill the stump, so that it will eventually rot.

I'd level the top and leave it in place to make the garden a more interesting place for your child to play in for a few years; tree stumps provide something for children to climb on, sit on, or as part of imaginative play.
