I've removed some radiator valves in order to replace with TRVs, and on all of them the olives were stuck fast, and I had to use a junior hack saw to weaken and then pry them off.
The pipe underneath where the olives were is slightly dented all around however - as if it had been tightened so much it crushed the pipe. I suspect that I should cut the pipe off below this before putting the new valves, but this will mean the hassle of lowering the radiator. Is there any alternative?
