Listening to an 'expert' on the telly just now, he says we have 3 days to identify someone we are planning to send back, then we have 14 days to notify the French. It can then take up to 3 months for them to be swapped and that’s if there are no legal challenges. That doesn’t seem lime much of a deterrent to me.

the numbers coming is the real measure of a deterrent. Until that changes, the 1 in 1 out scheme is just work in progress. I remain hopeful it will put a dent in the numbers. Fear of being sent back makes people think twice about paying the fare.

Given the cost of the illegals has doubled, scrapping the Rwanda deterrent, seemed a bit of a poor financial decision.
