Err!

Why did this thread get closed?

Just wondering as I could see no reason and consider myself to be a reasonable man!

I thought it was my pic of the inside of a Water Tower that had upset someone! Whole thread has now disappeared, it was there a moment ago as I looked to see why it had been locked.

Edit, thread has now reappeared with 'Some posts removed' added. Odd.

Just read the thread ,some posts have been removed ( don't know what they were ) ,and no idea why it has been closed. ??

I saw them (the posts), it was words being said between gasguru and OP, I thought oh here we go, but next minute the post is locked.

@leylandbobby seems one of the mods didn't like something on your original post, can't fathom out what that would be. As the other lads have said there didn't seem to be any erroneous or abusive posts as far as I could see.

Possibly the mod who locked it could explain?

The first thing you want to do is get a water pressure tester, fit it as close as possible to your mains stop tap.

Once connected you want 2 readings :-

- static pressure in bar - No outlets open/with nothing running

- Dynamic pressure and flow - 2 highest flowing outlets open at the same time - take pressure reading then take a bucket and time it filling over a minute from the highest flowing outlet. Measure how much water is in the bucket and come back to us with that info.

I foolishly thought the principles behind diynot should be to help diyers and where they are likely to contravene regulations or endanger themselves (or others) kindly point this out to them and offer correct guidance.

Of late there has been an increasing no. of postings encouraging illegal work both gas and plumbing related....particularly from fellow diyers lacking knowledge of the standards.

Maybe the mods feel it's better to protect the snowflakes that don't like the answers they receive rather than protect the integrity of their forum.

Looking at the OPs previous postings it would appear his property is rapidly becoming the house of bodge jobs....and it's a shame diynot appears to be encouraging it.

Cold water cisterns go through extensive testing including susceptibility to bacterial growth, high temperature resistance (structural integrity) etc. etc.

Chucking any old vessel in due to it's cheapness and circumventing water regulations is surely not what this forum's about.

Perhaps this posting will be banned too....

There is definitely an air of being watched by mods . I used to enjoy watching Mc Enroe play tennis , only for the rants - That fun has been taken out of Diy not. No leeway now. The days of Dick Puller et al are gone. Of course you can search the archives for classic rants, if you're sad enough;)

I must admit I was surprised to see the post closed, if it was for your post?? There wasn't anything wrong or abusive with advising that it wouldn't be a good idea to use the tank that the OP was suggesting was there? Couldn't see anything wrong with suggesting to get a proper cistern that is designed for the job, that's what we're here for surely? Unless there was something else that I missed?

Me too. Often see much worse across the site.

It has been mentioned before but it would be good if an explanation was left on the thread. No one here seems to have a clue why it was locked.
