Hi all,
during a CCTV drainage survey it was discovered that one end of the main sewage pipe is open (beneath some decking). I've now pulled up the board and would like to close it to avoid rodents getting into the system and therefore my house.

What sort of bung should I use to close this? The inside diameter is 10mm and the outside rim 14-15mm. Should I use something that still allows rain water to pass and drain? or something with a tight seal that rodents cannot circumvent? There is no other gulley nearby, so not sure where rainwater else would drain on this side of the house.

Is that a length of rainwater down-pipe to the right of the clay pipe? If so, where will the water from that go if you close off the clay pipe?

nah, that's just a piece of joist to support the decking. The rainwater gully is on the side of the kitchen and has its own drain. But to me it looks like this RE1 drain has a slope built into it and any general rain falling on the green area would just collect there?

Get a bung and observe what happens when it rains. If water drains elsewhere, leave it in place. If it pools there, then you need to chop it out and install a trap & gulley. You can also test with a hose or bucket even before getting the bung
