BEEN ASKED TO FIT AN OPENABLE LIGHT IN A COMMUNAL AREA IN A BLOCK OF FLATS THAT OPENS WITH A FIREMANS SWITCH IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE FOR VENTILATION PURPOSES, DOES ANY BODY HAVE ANY IDEAS AS TO WHAT THIS IS?

I presume you mean a velux windon type of thing?

You can get a little hydraulic ram that will unlock and open the velux window when told to do so by the fire alarm. I'm sure it could also be interfaced to run of a fireman switch.

No need to SHOUT

A skylight? You might be better asking the person demanding the works.

p.s. please stop shouting (turn caps lock off  )

sorry never used this before didnt realise about the shouting thing, yeah i presume its a roof light too, any idea were i can get the rams from and any idea of a rough price? cant ask the person ordering the lights because they dont know anything about them its building control that have told the that they have got to be in

thanks

I think you may be after something along the lines of a fire damper actuator?
