I have recently built an extension on the side of my house and i am now in the process of knocking through, however after cutting the first block out out i discovered that they are only 50 mm and joined to the inner course blocks with concrete/steel rods (see picture). I was just wondering if any one had come across this, do i just treat it as normal block work and fit my lintel?

I have not seen anything like this before. :?:

Are all the blocks in the wall like this?

polystrene insulation and stone cladding added at a later date. maybe !

Yes an Ex-Council house, and yes all the walls are the same, it looks like they are of the Wilson Block Construction thanks for that denso13. Will just cut through install a regular lintel and see what building regs say when they come out next.

Thanks for the help guys.
