Hi,
I was wondering if it would be possible to open up a new 12 foot wide opening for vehicle in the side of my large detached garage. This would entail removing two metal windows sandstone lintels and a centre section of brick etc which supports part of an A frame truss!
I envisioned the opening requiring an appropriate RSJ to support the existing wall plate and a new type of brace attached to the A frame and resting on the wall plate. I have taken a picture of the wall in question and a poor rough sketch of my idea.
I would look to employ a builder and maybe need a structural engineer but is this idea feasible and what might the costs look like? Maybe it’s a pipe dream but any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks. Stuart.
