Hi,

I've just got my first house and when we were putting stuff in the loft I noticed there was no under felt on the roof. I'm just wondering about peoples opinions on whether or not it is worth having this done or not? I know that its a big and expensive job but we have enough money in hand to get it done.

Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless the tiles are in a poor condition.

Without roofing felts, normally the loft area is well ventilated.

The downside of not having roofing felt is if you have a cracked or broken tiles the water damaged onto the ceiling instead of the roofing felt via to the gutter.

Generally speaking the old pre-war tiles have a 60-70 years life span.

If you're going to live there for long term then it will need to be done sometime, what is the age of your property?

Its a late 30's early 40's not too sure, but we are planning long term thanks for your opinion
