so who is trying to sell you one them or us
If its a bit colder outside they start your heating a bit earlier.
Thats fine but if your heating system is properly designed there will be little advantage as it will be almost at the target temperature after the 30 min early start you have already set.
Its amusing but the colder the weather the longer some people stay in bed so that tends to be self compensating.
If your house is particularly large then there might be a small saving and comfort improvement if you get out of bed at exactly the same time each day. A school or nursing home is another matter and there ite well worthwhile.
Generally as stated above not worth the effort in a three bed terrace or semi.
