Maybe the forum wreckedit is not wishing to register on, but view the contents is the shybi forum?

Not being so well informed as you, I Googled Shybi and that wasn't the kind of site I have been looking at. However the thought of having a gay relationship with a builder,roofer,plumber,electrician, etc., had crossed my mind. But judging by the alto ego's on this site I don't think that will happen.

the problem with joining is because that means you have to give them your email address.... for them to do with as they see fit.... sell on, use to bombard you with carp.... etc etc ..

You can set the filters on your email addy to a higher level to stop this happening but its always a good idea to read the T&C's ifyou are unsure of a sites policy..
Most forums have a policy of not passing this info on as it gives them a bad reputation and dissuades others from joining.

why should i have to offer up my email address for abuse by a third party, so they can make money out of it? duh!!!

Immi, some people have multiple addys to use for different things.
One for personal stuff, one for forums, one for banking, one for friends etc.
Some even have a few for 'spamming'.

You offer up your email address for abuse every single time you use it. Hence why you should take measures to prevent that abuse from becoming a problem.

I have addresses I use for: family/friends/legal stuff, online ordering, forums, misc purposes, and disposables.

yeah me too., i have a few... but my point is, why should i have to...? it's a bit like i should have an extra large letter box installed so companies can bombard me with ever larger quantities of junk mail.... the reality is.... stop sending me junk mail unless i ask for it.. similarly...let me look at your forum first, rather than you demanding my email address, which is obviously worth money to you !!!!

are you serious? isn't that a bit like saying "you're not looking in my shop window unless you commit to buying something first?

Everything, from free software, to p0rn sites, to wikipedia, to educational sites has a small level of free entrance in order to attract potential paying punters... what you're saying is doomed to have zero uptake surely?

but email addresses ARE a business, they're worth money to people... hence why you get so many mails about viagra and stuff...

have you never been given a taster of a new food in a supermarket, or not seen really cheap beer of milk as loss leaders..?

Plus, there is a lot of info available to mods, i.e. ip addresses etc when you join up... why should i give that up until i'm sure i like the forum?

And they can't give those out without your permission. Plus, very, very few of those messages generate any business, and as such the payout for supplying them is.. almost non-existent until you start supplying them in the tens of thousands.
