out door lighting usig 2 core wire

i am replacing an out side security light
the wiring is fine however im not sure wire is live or neutral,red or black.
these are the only 2 wires available to connect tp the new light

So you have two wires.
Red and black

The red should be live, the black should be neutral.
You should also have an earth wire to connect to

the earth connection on your lamp.

if you don't know then you need to stop and get someone who does..

try google.. that'll tell you what wires are which...

oh and since you have no earth then you cant put up a metal fitting..
