If you have to ask that question then sorry but you do not have the knowledge necessary to investigate and repair your lights.
The mains suuply is about 230 volts. the lamps maybe as low as 12 volts.
Put 12 volts onto a 12 volt lamp and it lights with the intended power.
Put 24 volts onto a 12 volt lamp and it will take FOUR times the power.
Put 36 volts onto a 12 volt lamp and it will take NINE times the power.
Put 230 volts ..................
This tends to destroy the lamp
the transformer changes the 230 volts to 12 volts.
