Outdoor NYY-J Cable & IEC 60502-1 Standard?

Hi,

I ordered some NYY-J cable for an outdoor light. I understand cable is suitable for outdoor use and will not degrade from UV light.

What has arrived from the wholesaler is stamped Eurotuff, with the IEC 60502-1 standard.

From what I understand, this is an international standard as opposed to the UK (BS) and German (VDE) standards.

I think it might be okay for outdoor but can anyone confirm that IEC 60502-1 is recognised as suitable outdoors?

aka Hi-Tuff. Suitable for outdoors, but not buried or where where mechanical protection is needed.

Yes but what is the correct standard for these cables to make them suitable for outdoor exposure.

Some manufacturers refer to both IEC60502-1 and VDE 0276-603 but I don't know whether there is any difference between these standards (or whether they are the same when it comes to outdoor/UV testing).
