I am having a custom frame built for a porcelain-tiled table. Do you think 18mm marine ply (sealed with several coats of epoxy resin), with a tile backer board on top would work as a base? (do you even get waterproof/exterior tile backer boards?) I am trying to avoid the cost of Tricoya if possible... thanks!

HardieBacker say that their 12mm board can be used outside for tiles, but not the 6mm. But they also say "vertical only".
