Hi , I have an existing outside light attached to my house. I want to disconnect this and run a cable approx 10metres with 3 low voltage lights every 2m or so. Do I need a heavy duty cable for this ? If so which one please.

Thanks

the bulbs will be those 11 watt energy saver jobbies

Ah. You mean low wattage.

as long as your Earth Fault Loop Impedance is OK at the far end, you should be OK. Do you have the means to test EFLI?

I'm afraid not.

Also, if the first couple of metres are not able to be laid underground, is it feasible to run it across a fence in some substantial conduit ?

I thought this was a case of installing outside lights on your house. This looks more like a garden installation which could be notifiable.

Personally, I would not run cable across or attach anything electrical to fence posts or panels.

Yes , I apologise , I have just re read my first post and it is not at all clear. The 10m of cable is about two metres down the house wall , then underground straight down the boundary with three lights at equal(ish) distances. So yes it is garden lighting.
