im after a bit of direction in putting some outside lights in my back garden.ive got a power supply to my garage which runs adjacent with my garden.in my garage there is a rather old grey isolating box which supplys my sockets and lights.there is an fcu which is for the lights.should i come off the power supply for the lights outside to a weatherproof switch and then the lights will be wired up accordingly :?:

Change your garage CU to one incorporating an RCD first... IEE reqs require this for outside equipment. They are only about £30 in total from City Electrical Factors for the whole unit including the 6 & 15amp MCB's then you can come off the 6amp side for your new outside lights

even though i have a relatively new c u inside my house does that still require me to fit a c u in my garage :?:

why????

If your garage is attached to your property then...no, if its detached then a seperate supply is only for ease...
