Outside Lights

Hi DESL
The lights terminate with a 13amp plug which is plugged into an RCD in a 13amp socket. This part seems to be fine, as other items plugged into the RCD work OK. How will I check for voltage with power off?

Thanks

Take the plug off (and inspect for loose or damaged connections).

Put a 6v battery across the P+N.

You will have to take out the light bulbs to test effectively, since they will drag the voltage down.

I have a hunch that the fault will be at or between the plug and the first lampholder.

I like the idea of the 6v battery, sounds safer to me, especially ouside standing on wet grass :)
Thanks
