can anyone reccomend external PIR lights that will last some reasonable length of time? ideally >36 months

In the main it is the mounting which is important, so ingress of water will not flood the electronics. This 1773008024376.pngis asking for problems, as any water will run into the PIR even if it gets in near the lamp, these

have been the standard PIR used for years, with a vent at bottom, so will not allow water to build up. Even a small 1/16 inch hole in bottom can stop water building up.

I had a similar problem with LED security lights failing after >6 months. Someone here recommended the VTAC ones at Toolstation. They have Samsung chips. The warranty is 5 years.

Not sure if they have ones with inbuilt PIRs.

I fitted a cheapo brand from toolstation in my local pub (it is an internal side light). It lasted 5 months. the second version lasted 4 months. Both became incredibly, incredibly dim. The Vtech/Samsung one (also from Toolstation) is now over a year old. In the winter it runs constantly from 4pm to 1AM.

Price wise they are only about 15-20% more expensive than the ones which failed prematurely.

I have only fitted 2 thus far, but I have no complaints.

How powerful do you need it?

I have fitted loads of this make
