Good evening,

I have an outside tap with a 3/4"thread. I'm trying to set up outside irrigation and the timer connector is 1". It comes with a 3/4" to 1" adapter which I thread on as far as it can go. The connector leaks and I initially thought i was a problem with the connector itself however on further inspection it appears the the connector is not screwing in far enough and mating with the washer/seal because it is hitting the underside of the tap (see picture). Is there a shallower adapter I could use? Seems to be a bit limiting if the tap is so poorly designed you can't use standard fittings?

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks,

E

The leak is coming from the grey adapter because I cannot screw it home as it hits the underside of the tap. Seems like the tap is a terrible design. Maybe I can change the tap. I have tried PTFE tape but to no avial. Maybe another washer or two could work.#

If I buy a new tap do I just unscrew the existing one and replace where the PTFE is on the right hand side?

I had the same thing with my out side tap, I cut a couple of millimeters off the fitting. Or, put another seal in.

Next question....Can someone point me in the direction of the correct washers for the fitting please?
