Not long moved into a house we've just bought and just checking 1. If this is safe and 2. Can and how would I wire some lights in.

1. There is a fuse spare coming off a socket in the kitchen which then powers a outdoor socket some 5meters away

2. Where the outdoor socket is, is where my pergola is. I'd like to wire up 4 downlights on each of the posts. How/if I can come off my outdoor socket which is the best way to wire them?

Thanks.

Presumably you will want a switch, so you might as well use another Fused Connection Unit (like the one that 'comes off the socket') with a 3A or 5A fuse placed wherever you want.

Run a cable from the outside socket connections to the FCU and then wire the lights from that.

The circuit will be a fused spur from the kitchen circuit.

For outside it is best to use black flexible cable - 1mm².
