Hello. Just a couple of quick (longwinded) queries regarding my oven.

I popped the oven on tonight and after 15 minutes noticed that the light on the front was still on. Opened it up and the bloody thing was freezing.

After an initial panic of 10 minutes looking at buying a new one I thought I'd dig deeper. The bloody thing is only a few years old.

Anyway I'm wondering if this is the element. The fan is still working as is the grill element. I took of the back plate to expose fan and element and (stupidly but safely) tested to see if the element was warming....It wasn't.

Does this sound like the cause of the problem? If so I feel very confident in changing it. I have looked on the espares and Ranson spares websites for the replacement 2000w element and the genuine part costs £25. Does this sound ok?

As an aside, and if I am going to change the element and order the part on line I may as well see if i can fix another niggle....

Whenever we use the grill the grill heats up nice and hot and then quickly cuts out. It then gradually gets hotter before cutting out again. Any suggestions on what may be causing this? My Sausages are taking ages to cook!

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

If the fans working and the stat light is on then it will be the fan element at fault. As for the grill most cookers these days have the grill element cycle on and off via the stat for safety reasons so this may not be a fault

Thanks for response caveman. Yeah stat light on and fan working to me means there's only the element left to look at. I suppose for £25 it's worth a shot.

Would you always get your spares online?

As for the grill I take your point but the period of cut out seems to be very long. A slice of toast can take 10 minutes :D

Well it's all fixed so the element was the problem.

Just wondering about the grill now
