Hi,
We have a Stoves 720EMA double oven & grill.
A while ago the grill failed and trips the RCD if I try to use it.
However, now the main oven appears to have failed too. The RCD tripped, and now I cannot even turn the oven on to see the display without tripping, (even though both the oven and grill are set to off). I was about to buy and replace the element for the main oven but am concerned that the RCD is tripping even though I am not turning the oven / element on.
Can the element still be the cause?

Thanks

disconnect the element see if it trips , if no then element needs replacing.

Ok, took the element out. It is still tripping :(
Any other likely causes? The oven is 16 years old now though.

themostat / grill element , dont hold out much for parts on that age 5 years yes 16 i doubt it.

Check to see if any other wires have come loose and are touching the chassis,
I had a similar problem when a customer changed his element, he knocked the steam vent pipe onto one of the connections which caused his oven to trip as soon as the cooker circuit was switched on.
