Hi all new here.

Ive purchased a new electric oven and was told it was a plug and play model.
So when it was delivered this morning I assumed it would have a flex and plug fitted, but no. Looking at the specs its loading is 2480w so just over 10amps if I have worked it out right. So can I put a plug on it and plug into the 13amp ring main? Or will it have to be hard wired?

All help is much appreciated

Cheers

Yes it can be plugged in, however the IET recommendation is no fixed appliance over 2 kW should be plugged into the ring final, it should have a dedicated supply, you do get plug and socket for things like immersion heaters but the supply to the socket is dedicated and not part of the ring final.

In real terms unless really close to the consumer unit it should not cause a problem, however can't really say it can be plugged into the ring final without checking first, but no problem plugging into a radial circuit.
