This morning I had a look around an 8 room Bed and Breakfast that is about to be reverted to a family home.

6 en-suites with electric showers and a family bath room also with with an electric shower.

Two dish washers, a washing machine and tumble dryer, electric rangemaster type double oven ( propane hobs ) and a plethora of appliances.

A hot tub in the garden.

All this on a single phase supply, I couldn't get a close look at the meter board to see what the main fuse was rated. Admitedly the showers were very small in terms of flow and temperature.

Well 0.0225.sq.inch.cable can take over 100amps continuously, and higher peak loads over that, according to design tables of a certain UK based DNO.

That would work out at over 4000A per square inch. When designing air cooled transformers (multilayer tight-wound windings) (50 odd years ago) we used to use 1000A per square inch as a working value for continuous running.
