There should be calcs for the beam which state the padstone dimensions.
7 inches in length won't be adequate (insert jokes about the missus/ex-girlfriend/Bonnie Blue, here.)
That's not even the length of a brick so it's not going to distribute any load more than resting it directly on the brickwork ( of course it could be there just make up a level to rest the beam on but at 5.2 that's a fairish size
Thanks for replies. The beam is supporting a first floor area, red brick 1930s house. Other end padstone is 12". but this one was shortened for a reason. It has now just come out altogether! loose and not cemented in? I would like it all redone with larger padstone but am being told it is ok to be fixed back in? A prop is still in place.

They won't necessarily need to be the samesize end to end, so this of itself doesn't make it wrong. However your SE has to tell you it's ok AND BC have to be happy.
FWIW I usually specify a single padstone size on my jobs on the KISS principle
