Paint under new coat bubbling

I recently painted a matt (Leyland Contract Matt) over my bedroom walls which were a slightly satin finish. Not sure what paint that is.

Very shortly after (the same day), the paint has started to bubble, with the paint beneath the new coats bubbling up. I've had a go at one of these with a knife and the paint peels away and is stretchy.

What's the best course of action? The bubbles are pretty much across the whole wall, am I going to have to peel all of the paint off and start again?

What should I have done differently to begin with?

Thanks

Chris

I had a very similar problem on a wall I painted although this only occurred on a space of about 2m2 I don't know why. Anyway I ended up rubbing off all the loose paint in the effected area and priming with Zinsser Gardz which did the job.

Thanks. On that basis though it sounds like I'd need to peel most of the walls off, which will be an arduous process. But I'm guessing may be the only option.

Unless anyone else has any ideas?
