painting a feature wall

I would like to paint a 'feature wall' in a very dark colour. Any tips for not screwing this up? trusty old masking tape? (diy novice)

Cutting in.

A small paint brush.
A very steady hand.
Patience.
A damp cloth handy.

Take your time.
Be careful and don't splash anything.

I would disagree with the small paint brush but each to their own. A larger brush is easier to control. If you aren't a confident painter then bring the corners in with a small brush, but using a 2" or 3" brush will give you better control and a neater line as long as you have a steady hand. For me 3" every time unless there are small areas to get past, i.e fixings close to corners. Damp cloth yes. You risk pulling off the paint if you use masking tape although it depends on the finish.

Yes, I agree with you about the paint brush, just meant a relatively small brush compared to something like a 6" brush or roller!
