Hi, as you can see from the attached photo our kitchen mixer tap is looking a bit sorry for itself but works fine. The chrome on the spout/base and handle will come up fine with a bit of a clean and polish but I was wondering about the matt black paint on the rectangular block which is peeling off to reveal the (?brass) underneath. I was wondering if I could just scrape the remaining paint off, sand it and spray it with suitable paint, save me changing the tap? If it is possible could anyone suggest what kind of paint (matt black) would do the job best?
Thanks in advance.

1. You could paint it, but the key is to use an etch primer. Brass, like zinc (galvanised parts) is difficult to paint.
2. I find Hammerite pretty good for these type of job. They do a special etch primer.
3. If you do it without taking the tap to pieces, you may find the sanding / masking quite difficult.

Thanks, really helpful, spout comes off easily so that will help with the masking. Off to look online for etch primer now!
