Painting Dry Verge ?

Poster#14,
Really. Its an even more universally held building trade experience that painting masonry is not a success.

1. How do you prep damp sodden brickwork?
2. How do you prep damp sodden solid walls esp walls with rubble infill?
3. Or damp cavity walls with sodden CWI?
4. How do you prep rising damp on external surfaces?
5. Do you claim your that best practice is to patch render, and replace spalled brickwork? Do you rake & re-point?
In the same way I wouldn't advise respraying your car if it's rusted through, covered in moss and half buried in a marsh, I wouldn't advise painting your wall if it's 'sodden' through, stuffed with wet insulation and subject to rising damp.

Poster #16,
Really? Didn't you notice that I clearly listed a number of instances ref your wide claims about prepping?
You had made your claims about prepping without posting any details of how you actually prep but now, all of a sudden, you duck & dive into wild fantasies instead of actually responding to my brief list.

In your post #14 from: "Prepare your walls ... to ...practically zero" and "expect success" you claim to have cracked the poor success rate using Mfr's advertising blurb.
There are plenty more examples I can present for you, not least technical conversations with BCO's & RICS surveyors.
None of them thought painting masonry was a good idea. Neither do I.

You post like we can't see what you wrote.

"never paint masonry - & never paint plastic."

So don't pretend you were talking about difficulties or exceptions. There is no issue whatsoever painting properly prepared masonry or plastic with the correct materials.
