Painting Electrical Conduit?

Hi,

I want to paint some newly installed white plastic electrical conduit in my bedroom. Do I need to paint with some primer first (if so can anyone recommend one) or can I just paint directly with my coloured matt paint?

we've got some of that - i just painted it with ordinary emulsion - you have to give it a few coats and not brush too hard or the next layer takes the earlier layers off...... but it looks alright (if not a bit annoying applying the coats)

Might be worth a quick rub with medium sandpaper to make a key for the paint to stick better.
