hi, im wanting to paint some pine conduit in silk emulsion. whats the best way to do this? will it just paint straight on or do you have to put some sort of primer on it first.

firstly/;is it plastic or wood

im thinking it plastic ,most paints wiil peel off or scatch ,if its out off the way i would put a coat of vinyl matt and then silk it,,if its going to get knocked you can first coat it with dulux sper grip quite a good primer then silk it....

And if it is wood..real wood, youl need to stick a coat of knotting over the knots first, and thin out the first coat slightly or use acrylic undercoat if you have some
