Painting garden bench

I'd go for a quality product courtesy of Sikkens or Sadolin for the best result, and if the bench is staying outside all year round, think of something that will prevent the timber touching the ground in standing water.

What kind of wood is it, do you know? We bought a bench from Amazon and it was eucalyptus wood, so was advised to use tung oil or linseed oil to treat it. We havent yet (not had time) but are thinking of painting it black instead, unsure of how paint will look on it though

I am not sure but it seems like the same type of wood used in fences.
I have applied some Wilko outdoor varnish on it. Hopefully, it can now stand the elements.
