Painting metal chairs

All previously painted surfaces such as metal MUST be sanded down to allow the new paint to stick properly.

In your case a light sand down all over will do as the paint will be in good condition.

Oil-based paint may be the best paint to use.

Are you looking to use a brush or spray can?

Doing it by brush may look a bit homemade, but you may find these easier.

Are you looking for a satin or gloss finish?

You COULD do this with regular house paint, ie oil-based undercoat and then oil-based gloss or satinwood, but it may not look professional enough.

What are you like a spraying?

But you will end up with white chairs with grey mesh fabric...

To get a decent and durable finish will cost much more than the purchase price of the chairs.

Sorry, might be cheaper to find white chairs.

Believe me, Opp, I have been ALL over the net to find white chairs just like these. Obviously that is the first thing I would do before resorting to even thinking about painting them.

Spark, thanks for your comments. I have never sprayed anything. It sounds like I would make a mess of it.

Spraying can cause runs, especially for the inexperienced.

Sure you can't live with grey?

Nice grey, very fashionable at the moment.
