Painting metal garage door.

hi,

Attached is a picture of a garage door. Someone looks like years ago they tried to paint it white and the white is peeling off. I want to restore and repaint this garage door so it's in good condition.

Any suggestions how best to do this.

I'd take off all the flaking paint, clean and sand it down to provide a key. Use an oil-based external paint for it to last a bit longer and I'd be tempted to use a primer too.

They look like wood not metal, but if am wrong and there's any bare metal or rust then best to treat that too before painting.
