Hi all ,

please could someone offer advice on what primer and gloss if any, would be suitable for painting over bitumen paint that was applied to the plastic waste downpipes over 10years ago.

It has a weathered appearance.

I would like to paint over it in either black or dark grey gloss paint.

would I be better to use an oil based primer and gloss / or would a suitable water based system be possible.

Or I am just better to recoat it with bitumen paint again

Many thanks in advance for any advise offered

Glenn

Coverstain if memory serves.
Check zinsser website.

Don't let the rain get on the coverstain but leave to cure for 4 days then put something over like zinsser all coat

Hi Gents , thanks for your replies it is very much appreciated.

I have contacted Zinsser and they say that Bulldog 123 or Bin Aqua will cover it , but not coverstain for your future reference.

Then Allcoat shold go over the top.

Thank you both for your advice it is appreciated

Have great bank holiday weekends
