Painting over cracked tiles

I plan to paint over the ceramic wall tiles in our kitchen. I have replaced a couple of badly damaged ones, but was wondering if there was an effective way of filling cracks on some others to save me from replacing those too.

Wherever I've seen painted over tiles its looked bad - it can collect dirt, & peel in a few years.
There's paint Mfr's that claim their paints can be used on tile but I can only tell you what I've seen.
Paint certainly wont secure loose or cracked tiles.
