What paint is used by installers on copper pipes in new builds ? Is it brush applied or sprayed ?

Thanks

Installers would never paint a pipe. We hate painted pipes as it makes subsequent alterations awkward.

Decorators will apply paint with a brush. Normal paint, nothing special. Gloss or emulsion - it all appears to stick. Try the painting and decorating forum as they may know better.

They should be painted,

Brown (or traditonal Red) for the Flow pipes.

Blue (or traditonal Black ) for the Return pipes.

Green and Yellow stripes for the over flows.

Then electricians might be more able to work on pipes.......

Thanks for the replies. I hadn't considered that the decorators had done it, makes sense though. Also understand what a pain it is to the plumbing fraternity.

Scraping it off with back of a Stanley blade which makes noise I hate; :cautious:
Ruins your abrasive strips; :cautious:
Trying to get a nut off with several layers of paint behind it and all over the rad valves; :cautious:
Bits you couldn't reach melting on to and into your torch and over your hands; :cautious:
Burnt paint smell causing homeowners to come running; :cautious:
Flecks of paint everywhere to clean up after; :cautious:
AND that's for each joint you need to make!:mad::mad::mad:

Coat the pipes with a couple of layers of Glyptal 1201 to really ferk off those plumber beersterds.
