Painting/staining exterior hardwood

Hi all.

I'm going to have a new external hardwood frame and door and I'd quite like to have the kind of finish where there's a bit of staining and glossy protection to it rather than a solid paint colour. Could you advise me of a good grainy/woody looking or exterior stainy gloss to protect them in?
