Hello peeps!

This is a bit embarrassing as I'm coming clean with a stupid mistake I made.

We have an OPTIMA alarm fitted by the previous owner. It had a panic button fitted into the kitchen which didn't do anything but look ugly. Because it done nothing and me thinking it wasn't even connected to the system, I decided to remove it, so out came the screwdriver and side cutters. Heres the stupid bit, I cut trough the cable setting the alarm off. Punched in the code and it went into 'Tamper' mode, so we couldn't use the alarm for 2+ yrs. Last year I separated the wires and messed about joining 2 up which allows us to use it. However, from time to time it set's its self off even when alarm is not set.

Is it possible to do away with the panic button circuit?

Any suggestions would be great. ;)

Yes - if you are confident enough to open up the panel. You will see two terminals marked PA - for personal attack. You need to "short out" those two terminals either by a short peice of alarm cable or if there is a staple left inside the panel - you could use that.

Remember that the alarm will be triggered when you open up the panel, so be ready to enter your code. Once you have shorted the two terminals, close the lid and reset ;)
