Hello,

We selected an NFRC member to provide a new roof. The quote was fairly detailed and their website states that all new roofs carry a comprehensive guarantee. We asked about the guarantee and received an email to say that the roof was guaranteed for 10yrs and the materials carried a manufacturers 25yr guarantee. The job is nearing completion and there has been no communication other than when we have had to raise questions/concerns. I would like advice regarding what paperwork I should expect to receive re their guarantees so that if it is not presented with the invoice then I know exactly what to ask for.

Thanks

Ok thanks for replies.

I could ask them what they supply but then I wouldn't know if this is deemed to be adequate.

I would be reluctant to pay prior to getting the guarantees as then there would be less hope of getting them and them being complete.

Prior to accepting the quote I have an email from them stating what the guarantee is on the roof and the materials - but not the format that this will take.

I'll try NFRC to see if they can offer any advice as it's one if their members.

Well speak with them and ask them to confirm exactly what they will be sending you and then come back here and tell us. Specifically ask them if it ‘is an insurance backed guarantee’. Really this should have been clarified before you ever employed them.

Roofing material has a certain life expectancy. But what happens if you had a roof installed on your home that had a 25 year life expectancy and it’s falling apart after 10?Well we have to be wise enough. The best thing to do go get the warranty of it.The company where you bought that roof will be responsible to replace it with a brand new one.
