I think its some thing like anything above 40p in pennies does not have to be accepted.

my parking is ok, some one put a note on my car last week. It said Parking fine.

Actually the legal tender limit is only 20p in pennies.

£5 in 5p coins, £5 in 10p coins, and for 50p coins the limit is £10.

Hmm, that doesn't make sense.

the standard bags of 5s and 10s are £5.
the standard bags of 20s and 50s are £10 (which tallies with above)
but pennies and 2s come in £1 bags.

I'd think the legal limits would tally with the standard bags of coins.

Same could be said of notes. standard packs of £10s and £20s are £1000.
