My floor is parquet, and it is in terrible condition. It was last varnished over 15 years ago, and it was a poor job. There is no remaining varnish in the high traffic areas, and the floor is very scratched and stained with ground in dirt.
I cannot sand the floor. I realize that this is where almost any effort at improvement begins, but it can't be done (no room to move the furniture, lung issues and cannot tolerate dust...). So, given that, do I have any options at all?
If I apply a wax over the partially varnished floor, will it look worse, or will it give me some improvement? According to some advertisements I have read, I can do just that and it will look fine - but I am sceptical of claims made by people trying to sell me something.
