Hi, we had our flueless gas fire capped off today (going to remove altogether in a few months), and we want to seal up the vent hole to prevent the draught from outside.

Currently I'm thinking of stuffing some loft insulation behind the plastic vents (in the ~100mm pipe), but obviously a more permanent solution would be best.

What's the best way?

I've just done the same thing....in my case it was 4" hole, so I took a 4" core drill, and a couple of blocks - drilled out two 4" cores from the spare blocks, and then just cemented them into the holes in my wall (cavity wall - one inner, one outer), and then rendered the outside to bring flush with the existing render.
